“I fell in love with accounting and numbers, it’s exciting!” Jay Gurunathan, Accountant, Padgett Small Biz, said.

Mrs. Gurunathan, who is a Registered Public Accountant, has been with the Accounting firm, Padgett, for fifteen years now. Before accounting, she was in nursing for private clinics and worked in various office related jobs, but she describes her “in” to the world of accounting as, “I got side-tracked and somehow stumbled into it. I didn’t decide to become an Accountant, it just sort of happened for me, which gave me great success in becoming the best in what I believe in.”

Mrs. Gurunathan became passionate about number crunching very quickly, as she had a knack for problem solving and a more analytical accounting style, which brought her to Padgett, a unique accounting firm that works hands on with all it’s clients.

With over 40 years in business, Padgett offers an all round accounting, tax and payroll services for its clients. They do personal, business and corporate taxes and always making sure the client maximizes their returns and minimize taxes. Mrs. Gurunathan describes the business as “proactive accounting.” Which simply means “ We ‘keep’ you out of trouble so that we don’t have to ‘get’ you out of trouble” in return the client has peace of mind.

“We like to build personal relationships with our clients, it’s not just about the money,” Mrs. Gurunathan explained, “It’s the ultimate satisfaction to be able to do a great job for a client. That’s what I strive towards, helping people out.”

We provide the peace of mind that comes from knowing that you have someone you can trust, someone who has taken the time and effort to get to know you. Someone who wants what is best for your business.

We want to prove that customer service is not dead. It may be on life-support with your current accountant but we know how important it is that you get the respect, courtesy and services that you are paying for and that you deserve.

All Padgett franchises are required to send in the clients data for surveys every three months, to keep up to date with the changing tax laws and to make sure they are following the accounting laws as well. This is why Padgett is different from other individual practitioners.  Padgett is a Franchise that keeps tabs on Revenue Canada and is constantly sending updates and notifications.

“We have to keep up with it,” Mrs. Gurunathan, expanded on how important it is for Public Accountants to keep up with laws in order to maintain integrity of their practice, “At the end of every year, we attend a tax updating course which is provided by the Franchise.”

With tax time being crunch time, it’s important for Padgett to always know their client’s tax situation and this is done by regular tax planning throughout the year. Mrs. Gurunathan says that business owners must ask themselves, “What is the intention of a business owner of owning a business?”

Padgett’s services are unique compared to other smaller accounting businesses because they always provide up-to-date Financial Reporting to make sure that the company is growing it’s bottom line and how it effects the client in the future. Mrs. Gurunathan strives for proactive accounting and makes sure there are never surprises for a client at the end of the year, “If we say something, we are going to get it done. We are there for you when you need us.” She said.

Many clients wonder what will happen to them and their finances, if something should happen to their accountant. It’s a scary feeling to think that all your finances could be left in the wrong hands or all the work that your accountant has done, completely erased or lost. With Padgett you are never stranded and always taken care of. They have a system built in where in case of emergencies, there is always someone who will immediately come in and replace your accountant to ensure that there is no disruption to your accounts.

Padgett also offers a special database system within the Franchise that evaluates industrial comparisons which tells you how your company is performing. This system will tell you if you are on the right or wrong track and steer you in the right direction.

Padgett finds it is important to interact with their clients and always explain what they produce. No accounting jargons are used because it’s important that the clients are able to understand what is happening with their money.

“The right Accountant should provide you with a management tool such as reports, consultation and business advise in a timely manner to grow the company, and this is what we practice in Padgett,” Mrs. Gurunathan said, we will maintain a personal Relationship with our clients.

·    It’s important that we work together and understand one another.
·    We want you & your business to be successful.
·    Our goal - your success!

We will make sure this experience is FUN and enjoyable! Above all else, we will provide our customers with Superior Customer Service. If for any reason you aren’t happy with the services we want your feedback. “We will make you think of accountants in a whole new light”
