Beverley Thomson acquired her knack for a very detailed style of cleaning by training under a well-respected cleaning service, where the owner had her clean every detail of her client’s home. She also went to a well-known Janitorial company and trained under one of the best Janitors in the industry. She began cleaning as a young child with her grandma. “In order to get a milk jug to take back to the store to buy candy, I would have to detail clean my grammas’ entire kitchen and she would watch that I didn’t miss a spec!”
Beverley decided to start her own cleaning company, bringing in everything she had learned about detailed cleaning. Maid-Mart Inc. was incorporated in July 2007 and was up and running in April 2008. Today, there is 5 full time staff, 4 permanent part-timers, 6 casuals who work the weeknights and weekends and 12 subcontractors. Beverley is hoping to be able to hire on Maid-Mart Supervisors in the near future, who will drive the Maid-Mobiles.
She believes in always working in a positive environment. She feels that if the staff is happy and having fun, they will be more productive in their cleaning, because attention to detail is of utmost importance. It’s what separates Maid-Mart from other cleaning companies.
Beverley spoke of her passion for finer detailed cleaning and hiring new staff, “If you want to work for Maid-Mart, you have to be a happy cleaner!” No one ever works alone, they always work in teams for safety purposes. On their team Maid-Mart also has experts who specialize in specific roles that require more than the normal clean.
What makes Maid Mart so unique? They are currently the only company in the Durham Region that does detail cleaning. When cleaning, they start at the top and work towards the bottom, never missing a spot! The staff works on mansions in crews of 12, including large theatres and dealerships working on the finer details, as well as custom design home openings.
Beverley always goes to the location first to quote on who should go on the job and what products should be used. Quotes are never done over the phone because every location is different and the cleaning requirements are never the same.
